Linda Evangelista for Talbots A/W 2010-11, ph. Mert & Marcus
Linda's back! After a busy year in 2009, La Linda stepped back a bit from the spotlight (ongoing L'Oreal Paris contract aside) for the first half of 2010 and is now front and center in Talbot's Fall/Winter 2010-11 ad campaign
The formerly stodgy retailer has rebranded itself, and in the process has emerged looking mighty fine and refined. And this is no half-hearted effort; Talbots
has pulled out all the stops by booking the iconic supermodel along with Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott
, currently the hottest photography duo on the planet. This marks the second time that Linda has worked with Mert & Marcus
, the first collaboration with the acclaimed duo being an editorial for French Numero
back in October of 2001. The campaign was shot over a two-day period at Jack Studios in the heart of New York's Chelsea Gallery District. As told to Stylelist
chief marketing officer, Lori Wagner, regarding Linda: "There was no B.S., no drama. She's on time, she's on set, and was pure perfection. Every single frame had a different expression."
Upon first impression of the first released ad (above), the staff at LEvangelista.net
felt the ad had sort of a Polaroid touch and feel, reminiscent of Linda's memorable 1990 Spring/Summer Lanvin campaign
photographed by Paolo Roversi. Simple, yet undeniably beautiful and elegant. Definitely a bold and dramatic move on the part of Talbots.
