Linda takes on Faye Dunaway's role from "Eyes of Laura Mars" - photo by Sebastian Faena for V 52

We have not been successful with scanning the unusually large pages of this unique editorial from the latest issue of V Magazine (on sale now!). Fortunately for us, Vicky (aka Faith Akiyama) has given us permission to use her scans here at LEvangelista.net. Vicky's scans don't cover the entire pages, but they're 100% better than what we've been able to accomplish thus far and we're extremely grateful! Eventually, we do intend to have complete scans from these pages.

For the uninitiated, we will attempt to explain this rather quirky editorial. We've also put explanations under each photo in the Gallery.

"Eyes of Laura Mars" is a glossy horror movie that was released in 1978, starring Faye Dunaway in the role of Laura Mars, an avante-garde fashion photographer who has "visions" of the the killings occurring through the eyes of a murderer. Tommy Lee Jones plays the part of Lieutenant John Neville, a police detective working on the case and who later becomes romantically involved with Laura Mars and is pivotal at the close of the movie.

While many people won't remember this movie and others will be understandably clueless, longtime hardcore fashion buffs have long held an affinity with this movie for it's prominent fashion setting. And obviously this affinity has lingered with Senior Editor Steven Gan and company over at V magazine. Argentine filmmaker and photographer Sebastian Faena was brought in by V to recreate and transpose a few select scenes from this movie to V's beautiful large, panoramic-style pages.

Linda Evangelista has taken on many roles throughout her chameleonic career, including the likenesses of Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, and Sophia Loren to name a few. Her latest transformation into Dunaway's Laura Mars character is yet again an astonishing metamorphosis. And the star power doesn't stop with Linda; One of today's iconic models, Raquel Zimmerman, gives an outstanding performance playing one of the models that works regularly in front of Laura Mars' camera lense and later becomes a murder victim. It should also be mentioned that Top Male Model Andres Velencoso Segura makes a special guest appearance in the role of Lieutenant Neville.

Faena has brilliantly captured the original movie's atmosphere, from the color tones to Linda's hair and makeup and her mirrored-bedroom stage set.

Unfortunately, the movie is no longer in print in the U.S. but it can still be purchased on Ebay or rented from numerous vendors. We still strongly recommend that you go out and purchase a copy of V magazine #52, on sale now. The viewing experience will be so much more satisfying as opposed to looking at scans on your computer.

Linda's first picture to be published in a mag

LV: "Do you remember the first time your photo was in a fashion magazine?"
LE: "Yeah, I coudn't believe it. I thought I made it, you know ? The first time I had a full page in a magazine it was in American Mademoiselle. Jean Louis David gave me a haircut and he took a picture of me on the 57th street in New York. It was a double-page ad. I think I was paid $400 and I couldn't believe someone whould pay me so much money."

Linda for inspiration
We hear that Linda Evangelista's hairstyles are making more waves among the younger generation as British supermodel Agyness Deyn turns blond then red and reverts to brunette. Who's next ? tongue
